Slope
Untitled Document

The underlying importance of the slope of a given area is basically linked with the possible development strategies to be adopted. A municipality can either have a relatively flat terrain all throughout or contain highly elevated portions suitable for other uses. Those having mountainous portions are generally endowed with rich forest resources such as timber, rattan, and other wildlife resources.

Alaminos is naturally based with mountainous portions. Considering its slope range of 0 percent - above 25 percent, Alaminos can have variable uses for its land.

The Northern part of the town, considered to be highly urbanized with the presence of industrial, commercial and agro-industrial firms, has relatively flat to undulating terrain. The slope is between 0 percent - 10 percent. Along these areas, plant cultivation is very safe as manifested by a multitude of coconut trees and a host of other fruit bearing trees thriving in the area.

On the other hand, the southern portion is sloping and mountainous. On this part lies the five hills of Alaminos namely Mapait, Bunsulan, Mani, Palindan, and Tanza hills. The slope range of this area is 10.1 percent - 25 percent.

Patagin, located at the southern most part of Barangay Sta. Rosa has a slope of more than 25%. This is suitable for timber production and other forest uses.
